Sociology: systematic study of human society and our social interaction. Society: large social groupings that: share geographic territory, have same dominant culture, same government/political authority. Every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world. A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices. Sociological imagination: c. wright mills concepts of seeing social factors impact on us and those around us. Peter berger definition of sociology: we see things are not what they seem. We only understand what happens to us by understanding what is happening in this and recent period of time. We will study: race (physical), ethnicity (cultural), class (social), sex (physical), gender (social), among others and not play things as we think they are.
