ADMJ 101 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Crime Prevention
Document Summary
This involves the creation and implementation of proactive programs and strategies designed to prevent crime and address the fear of crime. Neighbourhood watch and business watch, where information is provided to residents and/or business proprietors on how to secure their property and person against potential threat. Police involved in these programs often work closely with the community, local government, and agencies such as schools. 24hr work therefore required to offer a range of emergency services. Designed and implemented in an effect to ensure the smooth and safe flow of traffic managing and enforcing campaigns, suspensions, schemes and accident control. As indicated in this outline of main task areas, the police clearly perform a wide variety of functions. Yet, despite the multifaceted nature of policing, within the public mind the crime fighter" image predominates; indeed, this also tends to be the view that police have of themselves (see beyer 1993)
