Seems to operate through competition, medial pfc always tries to get you not to react. If nothing fights it, it will win and turn down your fear response. Anger tends to be more long term, sustained you can harbor it, involves more prefrontal thinking, pfc activation. Reasoning why you"re mad, telling your stories over and over again. You can actually watch people"s brain spread from just amygdala to pfc if its more cognitively involved.
