Dorsal: top of your head (for spinal cord, toward your back) Autonomic nervous system: control over basic function of your organs (how your heart is beating, if you"re busy digesting things) Comes out of the middle regions of your spinal cord (mid- way down, thoracic and lumbar regions) and goes to your vital organs to stimulate activity. Increased heart rate, constricts vessels (diverting blood from digestive muscles), dilates bronchi in lungs, dilates pupils (allows to take in more light, improves acuity), stimulates sweating. Interesting: when you are attracted to someone, your pupils dilate (triggers fight or flight), psychophysiology. Parasympathetic nervous system: dominates during resting states, Increases digestion, decreases heart rate, lowers blood pressure. Muscle control: the connection between your brain and your muscles how you have the idea to move (controlled in frontal lobe)
