Purpose is to create opportunites for producers who have been economically disadvantaged or marginalized by the conventional trading system. Capacity building means to develop producer"s inderdependence. Women"s work is properly valued and rewarded. Women are always paid for their contribution to the production process and are empowered in their organizations. One that covers not only the cost of production by enables production which is socially just and environmentally sound. Rostow model simplistic model in that it says that each country will continuously move through phases of development. Perpetuates myth of developmentalism : the idea that all countries will eventually progress to high mass consumption. Hard to compete as late starters in a stacked field (has to be losers for capitalism to be effective)
