Ecologists observe organisms, see how organisms physically or genetically relate to other species, find their evolutionary history, their habitats, diet, if it"s predator or prey (where in the food chain), behavior, adaptations. This applies to both ecologists of organisms like frogs and human ecologists. Human ecology falls under the realm of physical anthropology, one of many things like primatology, human evolution, etc. Going to look at how people have adapted to their environments physically and culturally, behavioral ecology, environmental problems, individual research. Adaptation to the environment: look at diverse biomes of the world, physical and cultural adaptations to said biomes of the world including things like subsistence strategies, diet/nutrition, disease. Behavioral ecology: going to look at the adaptive significance of many aspects of human behavior, the biological basis of said aspects of human behavior. Environmental problems/solutions: problems due to anthropogenic activity and prognosis.
