ME 1770 Lecture 19: Resilient Modeling Strategy

39 views3 pages

Document Summary

Used to easily understand design intent, find specific features required to make edits, complete edit without model failing. Concentrates on structure of feature tree rather than creating features. An obvious model doesn"t need intuition, assumption, or interpretation. Replace intuition with conscious reasoning by renaming features as they are made. Order of rsm: skeleton, core, surfaces, detail, holes, modify, quarantine. Detail features should never link to a detail feature. Skeleton group captures product design data, not part data. Inside out design : creating interior faces and shelling the part out (rather than in) Core group features: prismatic solid features that add most of the material to the part. Start with critical functional features that define the volume and interact with other parts (or are most likely to be changed) Parent priorities: default datums, user datums, skeleton features, core group features. Reference features that link to the core are placed in the surface group.
