Communication is the process of exchanging information and meaning between and among individuals through a common system of symbols, signs and behaviors. Research shows that communication is the number 1 skill lacking, yet needed, by those entering the workforce. The message is then delivered to the receiver who in turn decodes the message (interprets the words, symbols and signals).
