A sound designer should receive the script long before production begins. Read the script the rst time without making notations consider characters, theme, emotional arc, pacing and narrative progression. Discuss your interpretation and ideas with the direct. A scene by scene analysis must be done. Read the script again, making careful notations for each scene. Highlight and make a list of sound e ects needed for each scene. Describe what kind of music is appropriate and how it should be used for each scene. Make notes on the type of ambiances that would be appropriate for each scene. Wild sound: any sound e ect that you want to pick up on set. Wild sounds should be close miked and recorded before or after principle photography for the scene. Even if a sound is recorded within the context of the action of a scene, consider getting it wild. You can mphasize the sound e fect in post.

Step 1)

– Determine the structure and organization (e.g., compare/contrast).

– Make an Outline (should include the thesis statement plus a list of

supporting points and a conclusion).

Step 2)

Draft

– Follow your Outline.

– Consider the audience's knowledge of and experience with the topic.

paragraph).
