Angels are immortal/invisible listen to berlin citizens and comfort the distressed. Main angel falls in love with a trapeze artist. His love for the trapeze artist causes him to want to become human so that he can experience human emotions. Sepia toned black and white is used to represent the angel"s pov in film. Set in contemporary west berlin, while the wall still stood. Damiel and cassiel are the two main angels. Visible only to children, but unable to interact with humans. Despite being unable to interact with the human world, damiel falls in love with only trapeze artist named marion. Subplot follows peter falk: arrived in berlin to make a film about berlin"s nazi past. Peter was once an angel but grew tired of solely observing. Marion is mortal and has the common human dreams of being immortal and perfect tries to achieve this by wearing white wings while performing acrobatic stunts.
