Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Look at the big picture: question. 9 secrets of learning: dig deep, use your own imagination, test yourself, heads up, pen down when taking notes, process your notes, after you learn, don"t drop the information, forget cramming, forget learning style. Early psychologists: wundt (father, structuralists, functionalists. Clinical: largest, diagnose and treats people. School: studies how a child learns. Forensic: applies psychology to the legal system. Counseling: treat people with clinical, but they are less severe. Physiological: studies the brain and behavior. Social: studies behaviors with other people. Industrial/ organizational: applications of findings to the workplace. Heuristic value: does the theory start debates and causes people to research. Willingness to change: get courage or throw theory out. Naturalistic observation: more natural but problems await (just observation) not affecting behavior but will have to wait for results, can"t assume cause and effect conclusions, observe bias.
