Most blacks were tenants, poor farmers etc. they did not have much money and relied on whites for jobs. If you are born into a wrong system then you take that for granted. Segregation had its rules if a black man did something wrong they knew they would be punished, beaten kkk. Ww2 had many hopes for blacks, blacks fought in the war and saw unsegregated areas of the world they saw blacks in authority roles. Most of the world was not ready to hear the demands of blacks. May 17th, 1954 segregated schools were unconstitutional, the south was shocked. The south resisted desegregation with legal and illegal actions. The brown case gave blacks a sense of support to make moves and create their movement.
