ASL 105 Lecture 2: Language Lesson 9
Document Summary
Directions: watch the video found in the materials section: the genie. Find three examples when the signer clearly shifts body language. After writing down the specific time frame from the story, explain what in the body changed, and why. Example 1: the transition between the genie and the caucasian man (1:53-2:10) Explanation: this shows the transition from the genie being a large individual that is high up to going back to a regular person. In the beginning, the genie is looking down at the man and then when the signer switches to the genie, the caucasian man is looking straight forward. Example 2: the genie to the three men (1:30-1:34) Explanation: this shows the transition from the genie to the three men as they look up at the genie when he appears out of the lamp. Genies are large and this genie in particular rises up. The men look up when the genie appears.
