Document Summary
Journal of workplace behavioral health, 29(3), 240-257. doi:10. 1080/15555240. 2014. 933961. Dividing the workforce into 4 different generations, conflicts stemming from power changes and technological differences are plaguing the workforce and forcing work leaders and supervisors to develop strategies to solve these conflicts. Work-value conflict can occur due to miscommunication, work life balance issues, technology-use differences, and other issues among the four generations currently in the workplace (carver & candela, 2008). This 18-page article and study summary describes the challenges that are faced in the work force with multigenerational workers. The age gap comes into play when the supervisor/manager/boss is significantly older or younger; causing there to be a communication lapse from employee to boss or from boss to employee. Another challenge is the use of stereotypes in the workplace.
