Transvestism the practice of dressing and acting in a style or manner traditionally associated with the opposite sex. Transvestism (also called cross-dressing or drag) is used to maximize fitness in some species. Ischnura damselflies occur in gynamorphs (male) (b and c) and andromorphs (female) (a): andromorphs evolved in response to high levels of sexual harassment from males, low density populations, few to no andromorphs. Most male transvestism consists of males dressing like females (sneaker male: smaller males, disguised as females sneak into a more dominant males territory to steal copulations. Sepia plagon courting behavior showing different patterns to attract mates. Males edisplay courtship markings to females on one side of the body while the other displays female markings to males on the other so they are not seen as a threat. Reciprocal fertilization: both partners act as both sexes.
