The only color you saw in newspapers were the comics. Once usa today introduced color, all newspapers used color. You read so far and then you have to jump to a different page. There is only one article that jumps and that is the cover story. Front section is reserved for national and international news. Adolph ochs and the new york times. After buying the times in 1896, ochs created an informational paper that targeted businesses, legal professionals, political leaders and intellectuals. Unlike the story model newspapers represented by the sensationalism of the penny and yellow press. Just the facts became the newspaper standard at the dawn of the twentieth century. By the 1920s, objective style reporting became the standard of mainstream journalism. As the world became more complex, an analytical approach to journalism emerged in the form of political columns. Advocacy journalism - reporter actively promotes a particular cause or viewpoint.
