Stratified sample- age/grade/gender, pick proportionally from each group (has criteria) U. s. regions (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), then, select 3 states per region, then select 3 cities per state. Variation and data are the two major concepts of statistics. Variation- everything is different no matter how similar you try to make it. Data analysis- creating summaries of data and explaining what they tell us. Variables- the characteristics that make up a data set (gender, weight, height) Numerical variables (quantitative)- quantities of the objects of interests.
