Document Summary

Cognitive development: looking for changes in thinking, problem solving, and memory skills. Jean piaget: loved learning about learning, he studied his own kids and wanted to see if they were similar with other kids. If we realize that this doesn"t work, we get uncomfortable; this is called disequilibrium: accommodation, modifying a schema if needed. It is more work/requires more effort and thinking than assimilation: equilibrium is restored once we are able to make sense again. Imaginary audience: feeling like they are on stage, like others are always watching, can contribute to insecurities, personal fable, no one understands me , ***there are adults that never outgrow this feeling*** Invincible: this may be causing higher levels and rates of anxiety and depression in teens. Scaffolding-needing less help after getting help and learning teacher gives help to a less skilled learner. Reducing amount of help as time goes on. Learner gets better as the teacher helps them learn less.
