ACCTG 1 Lecture Notes - Longitudinal Study, Agreeableness, Impulsivity
Document Summary
Personality development: ways in which people change over time, two facets: stability and change. Mean level stability: maintenance of position of a group within a larger social context, e. g. the level of conservatism may rise as populations age. Personality coherence: manifestations of a trait may change over time, whilst simultaneously maintaining rank order. Personality change: change is internal and psychologically developmental, changes are considered developmental when they are lasting. Levels of analysis: deals with changes and stabilities that everyone experiences, can describe general trends, e. g. that impulsivity goes down with age. 1: predicting which individuals will experience certain life events (e. g. midlife crises), or which individuals might be at risk for certain disorders etc. , based on personality. During childhood: stability can be tested using stability coefficients, the longer the time between testing and restesting, the lower the coefficient likely is.
