Communitarianism (17th july 2017: critiques of liberalism, esp. Rawls (and some nozick: fundamental objections against liberalism, liberals disregard the fundamental importance of community, theoretical critique mixed with "diagnosis of society"s ills, not a unified field, the label "communitarian" comes from non-communitarians, e. g. Liberals stand for nothing (neutral state: neutral state undesirable, neutral state impossible, not tolerance as a virtue, but indifference and moral cowardice, loss of sense of belonging. In order to make choices, you need to have values, moral bearing, etc. Liberals disregard the fact that: people are more intimately connected to their conceptions of the good, self-identification / constitutive ends, these connections are inherently shaped by community (history, cultural values, people around them) Liberal theory inimical to community: liberalism undermines that from which all value comes (community) Liberalism cuts the ties that hold us together.
