KIN 1600 Lecture : July 10th Notes
Document Summary
Mechanics of how different information is processed through different stages or systems of memory- how memory works. A model in which memory processes are proposed to take place at the same time over a large network of neural connections. Portions of network activate simutanelsouly in the creation and storage of information not in a sequential step-by-step manner. Memories exist in a network and new information alters this network. Model assumes that the processing of information for memory storage is similar to the way a computer processes information-in a series of three stages. Concepts related in meaning thought to be stored physically near each other in the brain. Explains different response times in accessing specific information. Sensory memory, short term memory long term memory. Assumes information that is more deeply processed or processed according to is meaning, will be remembered more efficient and for a long period of time.
