Mental ill, left their home and became homeless to roam the streets, then ended up in prison. 1/2 million mentally ill in prisons. 50,000 in mental hospitals today. They do group therapy with the mentally ill in prisons. Oakwood correction facility in ohio. 16% of people in prisons in ohio are mentally ill. Ohio now known as a model for treating mentally ill in hospitals. Mentally ill inmates are separated from other prisons so they can be properly treated. Prison has a special force that went in with shields to physically remove him from his cell. Prison does not exist to provide mental health treatment but instead protection for the community. Wanting to know if the ill in people in hospitals is from criminal activities or induced by mental illness.
