Religion plays a huge role in every day life, even in a secular world. In god we trust - on money. Laws of our country based on christian beliefs. Religion has underwritten todays society (modern period and secularism) - that is why we study it: religions fed/borrowed off each other, they were parallel and did not borrow. Topocosmic religion - earliest settler religions; a faith or religion that binds the people and the land; agriculture-based civilizations; holy land stems from this.
