Document Summary

The use of sources is very common within the new testament is very common: understand what the sources are & how they contribute to the text. What did the author do: these are the 3 questions, but they can be difficult to answer. All start with the same story (so then can"t tell who borrowed from who). Matthew & mark have the same sequence, but luke puts a story that in mathew & This divergence in sequence is basically mark & mathew against luke or mark & luke against matthew. So, mark serves as basis of sequencing: stylistic; matthew & luke write better greek - mark"s greek is less sophisticated, so they cleaned it up. Mark tell story in present tense, while matthew & luke put it in the past tense: the double tradition, involves matthew & luke, made of stories that are sayings, or sayings in a set narrative framework.
