Academic- help students acquire the knowledge and skills that are essential for functioning in our culture. Social and civic- to guide young people to become productive members of society. Vocational- prepare students for the work world. Personal- help students develop as healthy, happy, individuals: sometimes goals compete, and conflicts occur. Academics are strongly emphasized in todays schools: the relative emphasis placed on each goal varies with grade level, social institutions have established structures, which represent how schools are organized. This includes everyone including the admin, support staff, and teachers. No school is better than the people that work there . Administrators- people responsible for the day-to-day operation of a school: the most important- the principal. Separate classrooms offer teacher privacy and sanctuary from the hectic pace of school life. School enrollments often increase so rapidly that physical plants can"t keep up. As a result, many schools have temporaries built on to provide additional classroom space.
