Style: set of conventions and assumptions underlying the writing and generally accepted rules of writing. People turn away from media sources they do not trust. Truth and honesty are important to society. Keep reading in this post literate age. Style further enhances the use of language. English language is versatile but complex and can lead to confusion. Writing should be as straightforward as possible. Put yourself in the place of the reader. Simple terms and sentence structures are best for media writing. Goal is to transmit ideas and facts as efficiently as possible. Understand jargon and put it into words a general audience can digest. Set the stage and pull reader into the world of the story. Who, what, when, where, why, and how. Ex: advance planning, free gifts, component parts. Story can be cut from bottom up. Do not overplay or underplay importance of stories. There is a difference between reporting news and making it.
