Reye"s syndrom= kids can have reaction to aspirin=death (so no aspirin, but can take aceteminophen) Liver diseas= people with hepatitis= anyone with hep c can not take aceta. People with fatty liver get cirrhosis= non alcoholic fatty acid liver disease (no aceta) Don"t take tylenol with alcohol at same time=liver disease or cancer. If overdose= need iv acetylcysteine (tastes and smells bad, so need iv) Aceta is in coombination with many other drugs =od easy. Meperidine (demerol) : causes neuro issues if repeated. Codeine: ceiling effect only relieves so much pain. Remember: opioid naiive (have not regularly taken an opioid) opioid tolerant (on it regularly, so need stronger/higher dose. If past user/clean for few months go back to naiive dose so they don"t od) Important to know their past/present history of substance abuse.
