Document Summary
Adoption studies provide a rich setting for discriminating between the contributions of genetics and environment on behavior. Research - group: most common, draw conclusions based on averages across all participants. Correlation coefficient = direction & strength of relationship. Make sure to get people for what you are interested in, and beyond that. Moderate anxiety is good to perform at your best. Correlation does not equal causation: only explain the degree one variable is related to another. Expose groups to different conditions that researcher manipulates/controls. One group receives treatment and other doesn"t. (experimental group and control group) You can start to see what is actually causing change, unlike correlational. Have similar characteristics to what you"re looking at still. Internal validity = draw conclusions on treatment. If you have high internal validity, you don"t have as much external validity. External validity = generalize outside of experiment. Efficacy = maximize ability to draw conclusions on findings, homogeneous group.
