Document Summary

A feminist sexual politic: an ethics of mutual freedom hooks, 2015. Feminist movement and the sexual revolution: feminist movement was central to obtaining birth control and abortion. Living in a world where women fear sex and men want it is not good. Sexual freedom is not the same as sexual promiscuity. Don"t have to have the same sex practices as a man to have freedom; modelling behavior after patriarchal norms/what men have always been able to do. Lesbianism was not perfect either though; sexism and patriarchy infiltrates all relationships: debates about the practices of sexual sadomasochism. Anti-feminist to judge people on their sexual pleasures, but consent and mutual respect are necessary. What does liberatory sexual practice look like: consent and mutual respect central, all parties able to stop activities, taking focus away from penetration. Shifting view away from erect penis as center: engage or abstain from activity without fear or coercion.
