Paul revere took off to warn rebels that the british were on their way. Henry wadsworth longfellow (1860) wrote a poem that memorialized paul revere and his ride. William dawes took a different route & met up with revere to warn. Sam adams and john hancock to stay in hiding. Samuel prescott warns concord and meets dawes and revere on the road, saving them an additional ride. Revere got arrested for spying, dawes and prescott got away.
