Students know about crime because of the media and personal experience. Criminal justice is everywhere and happening all the time. Law enforcement has the responsibility of ensuring public safety. The courtroom players (workgroup) have the responsibility of upholding justice. Crime is an illegal, punishable act under the law. Burning the american flag is not a crime under the first amendment. Time- pistol dueling in the old west was not necessarily a crime and people were rarely prosecuted. Place- in saudia arabia crimes punishable by death include adultery and repeated drug use. Justice is a philosophical idea and is abstract ex. Lady justice a justice is blind , they don"t see race, gender, etc. The sword of lady justice is a representation of power. The balance is like the evidence vs. their account, balanced. Criminal justice is the sum total of society"s activities to defend itself against the actions it defines as criminal.
