Replacement of animals with non-animal models, where possible. You have to be able to explain yourself and how you are going to handle the animals for research. Management of exotic pets: many people don"t like this term because it implies that the pets are cooler or something like that so that people want them, they are defined as non-domesticated and wild animals kept as companions. Most common exotic pets: chinchillas, ferrets, sugar gliders. Lack of education on these exotic pets leads to issues. Black market for exotic animals is considered 2nd to drugs in the usa. The main laws against exotic pets are for carnivores and primates. Many exotic animals do not have their own rabies vaccine and we do not know if the normal cat/dog rabies vaccines actually fully protect them and us. Is mostly illegal in all states to sell great apes.
