PSYC 3243 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Eye Contact, The Foundations
Document Summary
Course will focus on history, viewpoints, and ethics of the counseling field. Goal: provide student with understanding of the counseling profession with regard to counseling as a potential career choice. Due to the nature of the course, there is a focus on group work and participation in class. There is an oral presentation, a cinema therapy assignment, and a personal theory paper. The professor will drop your grade if you do not show up. There was a group activity where the class paired up in groups of two. The class was then asked to find out about the person"s winter holiday, and pay special attention to their body language. A person who leans back may require more personal space, may be more relaxed, or may wish to exit the conversation. If two people are really engaged in a conversation, they may mirror each other"s posture or stance.
