The more similar the stimuli, the more likely generalization will occur. Generalization gradient: a graph showing how the strength of response changes with similarity: steep gradients mean narrow response, inhibitory generalization: generalization of behaviors following punishment or extinction. Extent to which a learner continues to perform the target behavior after a portion or all of the intervention is terminated: behavioral persistence. Unlearned stimulus generalization: due to considerable physical similarity. Stimulus discrimination: occurs when new stimuli that are similar to the controlling stimulus to not evoke the same response. Discrimination training: reinforcing a response in the presence of one stimulus and extinguishing it in the presence of another stimulus. The shape of the generalization gradient is changed by training: the shape of the gradient becomes steeper and more narrow at the top.
