Classical conditioning- learning to link multiple stimuli in a way that helps us. When pieces of information are linked anticipate an event and reaction. Natural response to one stimuli can be prompted by the other. Operant conditioning- changing behavior choices in response to results those stimuli. Learns to avoid behaviors which lead to undesirable results. Cognitive learning- acquiring new behaviors through observation/information. Occurs by observing events and behaviors of others. Occurs by using language to acquire information about events experienced by others. Behaviorism- study of behavior as a result of conditioning. Scientists below believed mental life was less important than behavior. Adjusting to rewards or consequences of behaviors to learn what works.
