Pathname = string that describes the path from the root to the file. /users/sara/desktop (name of my desktop folder on my map) C:\users\sara\desktop (true name of my desktop folder on my pc) But: backslashes are used to indicate special characters: \n = new line. So windows had to change their desktop separators to double backslash \ We are going to be working with relative paths (not absolute paths) - start from a certain location and then provide path for how to get further. Procedures that have side effects have an exclamation point at the end. If you always put true it will always copy it no matter what. If you put false it will not copy if it already exists. We are building a system that backs up all the files in our directory. If i put true, it is always going to overwrite. If you delete-file!, you have created a permanent side effect, this file is gone!
