The case of india: under corporate imperialism from the british east india company, when rulers resisted, the sepoy army was created, the british crown came to want control over the opium trade. Slowly destroyed the indian economy, prevented them from exporting goods and could only grow cash crops. Created the sepoy mutiny (1857) as sepoys learned their guns used cow or pig oil and revolted. The suez canal was a french investment to control the east, but could not pay for it. The british step in to pay instead, gave the egyptians economic advice . Made egypt a protectorate, but ended up growing cotton and taking over: the berlin conference (1884-85) Europe decided to divide africa up amongst themselves. All of africa colonized within 20 years: south africa. Established as a dutch colony at cape colony in 1652. The british invaded in 1815, beginning the great trek for the dutch.
