Secular and divine authorities tensions are created which are not easily resolved. To be called upon secular authority which is against the moral stand religiously etc creates a lot of problem and need a lot of justification to explain why u are following earthly authority. Her beliefs drove her to make the choice that she made given that she placed the higher authority over secular, in ways she couldn"t turn her back on. Her sister couldn"t follow her moral sentiments and resist creon. This contrasts the commitment in the part of the two. In modern terms: nazi germany: living there being that you are christian etc, u have to be very clever, have to come to terms and have active/passive involvement (i know it but don"t do anything about it). Chorus initially belittles her in some ways, admires her courage but still claims she"s willful and does not bend in the wind.
