Use of oil painting is going to give the ability to indulge in the beauty of detail. Small brushes, fine hair on brushes, multi-layering. Annunciation takes place in a domestic, private setting. Depth is perceived intuitively; not with linear perspective. Left panel: donors; middle panel: first annunciation; right panel: possibly joseph/a merchant. Disguised symbolism: method that is used by the artists to trace supernatural events; hidden meanings. The cross of the lord was the devil"s mousetrap . Sculpture-like figures (ability to use monochrome colors) Begun in 1425; took about 7 years to complete. Women will not be able to take figure studies lessons. Most artists have looked at men closer than they have looked at women; are more capable of depicting men more accurately. Level of detail is possible through oil painting. Extreme detail and accuracy; materials are represented as they are. Metal looks like metal; floor details; the clothing details are incredible.
