Document Summary

Differences between myofibers: sped of contraction, fast vs. slow, differ with respect to amount of atpase activity (from lecture 2) Slow, makes atp from oxidative process = tons of atp. Don"t use up resources very fast, have a lot on hand. We are making more than we end up using. Our costs are less than our gains, we can effectively run this one forever. Why isn"t it the only one they are slow! The amount of tension from the pulls is not a lot: can"t generate a lot of tension so its good for long term running, not a strong powerful one. Fast oxidative- glycolytic high atpase (added the glycolytic word because we run through glycolysis first) We can do it for a while, but not forever like the 1st one. Can sustain for a while, but outusing our resources, so we will tank with it. Will generate more power than the first one!!!
