Process by which individuals act toward and react to others. Exchange: two individuals o er each other something in order to obtain a reward. Ex: doctors and patients, lawyers and clients, helping a friend study. Cooperation: two or more individuals work together to achieve a common goal. Need the other person to be able to achieve goal. In times of disaster ( ood, tornado, re, etc) Customary cooperation are referred to as traditional cooperation. Ex: people agree to work together on business project. Oppositional interaction: treating others as competitors or enemies; consists of competition or con ict. Competition: interaction where two individuals follow a set of agreed upon rules to achieve the same goal before the other does. Positive aspects: encourages society to advance (science, medicine, tech, ed, etc), stimulates economic growth. Negative aspects: losing sight of the goal, stressful, promotes inequality.
