A system for understanding personality types that assumes people are born with a certain personality type. Developed by mother/daughter team: katherine cook briggs & isabel briggs: katherine briggs was independently researching personality typing. Myers in the (cid:883)95(cid:882)"s. based on observations of her family & friends" behavior: discovered carl jung"s theory of personality type. Jung believed that a person"s personality could be divided into: briggs integrated her work w/ jung"s theory & developed the mbti in the, mbti measures your (cid:498)preference(cid:499) towards a certain personality type. Extensive research was done on the mbti before being distributed to independent mental activities. Does not measure mental health, intelligence or predict future success: helps you to understand what motivates you as a person. Extrovert: outer world of people & activity, vocal about ideas, very expressive, action orientated, gets energized from being out & about w/ other people.
