No ongoing relationship between young man and woman. Girl-> rite of passage -> officially acknowledged as an adult girls family receives gifts of food and etc. Can have more than 1 relationship at a time. Children-> raised by mother and her family. Endo means within and gamy means marriage. Only since industrialism has marriage been about love. It used to be about functionality but as middle class has grown-> it has become possible for people to operate in smaller families rather than in large groups. Some ideas from class of what religion is: rationale and explanation and rules, community -> spiritual connection, god, gods. Other definitions: set of beliefs and actions related to the supernatural. Has a fake connotation so people don"t like to associate religion with supernatural.
