Monitor the interventions to assess their effectiveness. Interventions can focus on any of these targets. Events of 9/11 and the anthrax letters highlighted the importance of public health. The public health response to disasters, both natural and man-made, helps to control the damage and prevent further harm to survivors and rescuers (katrina and rita hurricane problems) Bioterrorism is recognized primarily through classical public health measures similar to those used in natural epidemics. Some actions that the government has taken to ensure that people are safer and healthier today include an improvement in sanitation, improvement in nutrition, and improvement in occupational safety. For instance, perishable foods have nutrients that could reproduce bacteria.
