Several approaches: replace mutated gene with a healthy copy, inactivating a gene that does not function properly, introduce a new gene to fight disease. Currently only available as part of clinical trials. Need 2 things for this to work: the right dna material. Correctly functioning copy: a way to get it into our cells.
