Steps of teaching observational learning: attention: student has to be watching to learn, model is reinforced to get attention, model is admired. Peyton manning selling pizza: incentive, model is similar to the observer. If you do the behavior it can help you on the test. This is mostly done wrong; usually the teacher chooses the student who does not need practice which further discourages the children who do. If she could do it, then i could do it : retention, model the behavior in small steps. Automatic processes and behavior is not good when we teach: use cues about when to respond. Example: your access account username is your psu id : reproduction, use memory aids to help recall the steps, practice with feedback. Show someone how, and then make them do it while you are watching. Where most of learning happens: motivation, observer is reinforced. Chocolate, being happy and being able to show off because they did it.
