Conduct a literature review: find articles on topic that already exist, review and find gaps. Look for common themes: samples, methods, findings. 1) knowledge of previous research enables you to create or hone your research question: what if someone else already answered your question, build on previous and current knowledge. What gaps are there in the literature: research question should emerge from literature review. In past research: married young adults whose parents were divorced compared to married young adults whose parents were happily married.
