Experience of understanding another person"s condition from their perspective. Compassion to care about making it better. Two innate skills: innate facial expressions and gestures, automatic response in which the cries of another infant cause them to cry. However they do not cry at the sound of their own recorded crying, suggesting that it is not simply because the sound is annoying. First comes the ability to distinguish self from other . Then comes a life time of experiencing relational interaction. The most important relationship is the first interactions with the primary caregiver (mother) They establish a template through: mirroring, reciprocity, sensitivity. Mirror neurons a neuron that fires both when an action/behavior is performed and when the same action/behavior is observed: help us understand the actions intentions and feelings of others.
