Document Summary

Early days of learning focused on behavior. The way we think about things is part of this equation. Can"t focus exclusively on the behavior because there is cognition that is influencing the behavior. Rats had to go through a curtain or a one way door that if they get to the end they were rewarded. These rats were reinforced every time they finished the maze. This group learned very quickly with fewer errors. They were given food every time they finished. When they finished the maze they didn"t get a food reward but they were put back to the start of the maze. For ten days there was no reward. After day ten when they begin to get rewarded they begin acted like group one. This group knew the maze better than group one. Behaviorists would say that group two has no learning occurring because there is no motivation to learn.
