Phobia- irrational, persistent, fear of an object, situation, or social activity. Anxiety- disorders in which the main symptom is excessive or unnecessary stress in a situation. For most this can be a motivating force but it can have the opposite effect in these cases. Fear of negative evaluation in more specific social situations. Worried about being made fun of, humiliated in some way. Anxiety is centered around that idea that you will be humiliated or ridiculed. Performance type situations like making a speech. Social interactions situations like meeting new people. Observed situations like people watching you eat, performance reviews. Needs to get away from that avoidance so that it is learned that it is not as bad a situation as once believed. Fear of place/situation from which escape is difficult or impossible. Fear they might have a panic attack or get stuck, need help, and they won"t get it.
